Banff National Park in Canada is a spectacular place. Snow capped mountains, wildflowers, glacial lakes, bear, elk, moose, big horn sheep, birds and wildlife of all kind are quite abundant. The colors here are amazing - on rainy days, very saturated and on sunny days, brilliant. We did several hikes while there. We hiked up to Fairview Lookout over Lake Louise, Parker Ridge off the Icefields Parkway, took the bus shuttle up to Sunshine Meadows then hiked around the top, Marble Canyon, the Paint Pots where indian tribes collected red and yellow colored mud for pigment, Boom Lake, Johnston Canyon Upper and Lower Falls, Moraine Lake then finally up the Plain of 6 Glaciers trail to the teahouse. The teahouse is hike in only (3.5 miles in). The employees hike in, stay 5 nights then hike out. They rotate such that an employee is coming and leaving each day. The one hiking in packs in the food needed for the restaurant that day and the one leaving packs out the trash from the day. While eating there, you can hear avalanches going off around you. Just an amazing surreal setting!
